ABOUT
The Lappeenranta International Intercultural Democratic Forum ry is a non-governmental and non-profitable association, comprising of immigrants, Finns and legal-resident foreigners who share common ideas of mission, visions, and values .This is riven to as a contributing and participating meaningfully to the integration process in Lappeenranta and its environs, Finland, and the global community as a whole. We stand to raise concern through advocacy to protect the values of democracy and diversity, for global security, peace, and happiness .
As a matter of fact, Lappeenranta integration activities have been growing and supported over the years by its municipal authorities / government and other organizations in Finland as a whole, but it is also known that there are increasing number of immigrants, refugees and long - term – foreigners who live in/or moving to Lappeenranta and its environs – based on emigration, study, and intermarriages, as the population indexes show between 2003 to 2017. In this collective, the increasing case load of these people from different cultural backgrounds, with different experiences need to be accommodated and not be left behind as minority group, in the integration process.
On the other hand, the global challenge towards diversity is glaringly worrisome as sentiments towards humanity of minority background people are seemingly becoming an issue of choice, spreading from one country to another. These actions culminate directly into lack of trust and confidence by indigenous people, due to callous behavior of individual or group of people of bad behavior or ideologies within the minority groups.
In this light, the Lappeenranta Intercultural Democracy Forum ry is resolved to contribute in the integration process towards building trust, confidence, and cordial working collaborative relationship between immigrants, legal resident foreigners and Finns in Lappeenranta and its environs. In addition - raise awareness and advocate for human rights and democratic treatments towards minorities in other parts of the world. The LIIDF ry look forward to Government entities, Non-Governmental Organizations, other like-minded organizations, and individuals for support and collaboration, for our collective achievements in this Lappeenranta city and the global communities.
